Another day, another island. This time the sacred Isla del sol, the sun island. Because I tend not to put my glasses on I did not read the fine print when I booked this yesterday on the bus. The fine print says the Boliviahop boat drops off at the ruined sun temple, and then there's a 90 minute trek to be collected over the other side of the island. By the time I d worked this out, the boat had left....

Luckily it was a great trek. I'm adjusted to the altitude now, plus I was fuelled up with wonderful cheese bread for my pre trip lunch and had even had the foresight to pack a banana.
The views are stunning, although at times disconcertingly like Sussex. The locals who live in Yumeni town line the trek route plying their wares but sadly most hikers are like me, loath to add to our baggage. The gushing spring running down the mountain is supposed to prolong youth if drunk but frankly it didn't look too healthy so I decided to give it a miss.
